Was visiting the area and saw this place recommended on TikTok. It didn't disappoint! Had a group of 7 at 10am and we were seated quickly (started getting busier around 11am). Fried pork chunks: sooo good, nice savory flavor. The lime and onion on top help balance it all out. Nice and crispy. Ropa vieja: tender shredded meet with great flavor. Comes with rice and plantains. Oxtail stew: rich flavor, tender meat. Comes with rice and plantains. Cortadito: small coffee with hint of milk, gets the job done to wake you up. Comes sweetened or you can opt to add in your own. Cubano: a classic, came out warm and the cheese was super melty. If you're looking for a Cuban spot to hit up in south beach, let this be your spot!
On a one week trip to Miami, I visited this restaurant 3 times. The fried swai filet is delicious. The oxtail is delicious. The cuban sandwich is delicious. The mango was my favorite of all the smoothies but they were all sweet and refreshing drinks to pair with the SoBe weather. No complaints from me, only high praise! The staff works fast and provide friendly service at both the bar and the tables. I will definitely be back to explore the rest of the menu!
This place feels like an 80s American diner. It has character and I like that personally. Sometimes the modern aestethic can get a little old. My friends and I got the bar seating and saw the orange juice being freshly squeezed. It was quite entertaining and refreshing to see orange squeezed like that. I would recommend getting that if you can. I got the Large Cuban Sandwhich and it most certainly did not disappoint. The guy behind the counter recommended to get a large but honestly I would have preferred the medium sized. I also got the Cuban Coffee and well... it tastes like coffee so if you need a caffeine fix, I would give it a try! Check out this place if you're looking for a brunch-y casual spot. If you're looking for the cute "mimosa all day" type brunch spot, there are probably better options in thr area. Will definitely come back here again if I'm in the are!
Traditional and reasonably priced Cuban food close to but away from the hustling bustling touristy area. Flavorful dishes that taste authentic.
I mean, what else can be said that already hasn't?! No bells, no whistles, no frills... just amazing diner style Cuban. Think Denny's but the Cuban version. Always great service and a clutch choice for those looking for something quick and easy. Try the cubano
Update: we ended up eating here 7x in our 5 day trip! We LOVED everything about and were very pleased to have found a staple spot that was consistently good all around any time of day. OG post: This spot has earned my phenomenalicous award! Steps away from our hotel we found a fairly priced dinner that was excellent. We were quickly seated and offered the choice between indoor or outdoor. We split a grilled chicken special with rice, beans, and plantains. The flavor and sauce is to die for! I also ordered a café cubano and it was the best perk for our evening. Service was kind and efficient, the ambiance is like a cozy family dinner vibe. We will definitely be back as we are spending a week in town!
Puerto Sagua - No frills, just great food Long before many people reading this were born, Puerto Sagua was serving up authentic and delicious Cuban food on Miami Beach. To describe it? Warm, inviting, genuine, and memorable. Then add tasty, efficient, friendly. You've got Peurto Sagua. This is a true Cuban Diner with a menu which runs the gambit well beyond black beans, rice and plantains. It's an easy walk from most hotels in South Beach, and worth the drive and the parking hassles if you are further away. Few restaurants can transport you both mentally to a different place, but also a different time. A different era. The dining room is what you would expect from this type of diner. Brightly lit all day and all night. Old photographs and vintage pictures, of the famous, infamous, and others hanging on the walls. The staff is welcoming, attentive and good natured. The menu is huge but we have a couple of favorites. For breakfast, get the traditional Cuban Breakfast. Scrambled eggs with ham, and soft buttered bread. For dinner the Chicken Milanesa with rice and black beans. For an adult beverage - none other than a Mojito. For dessert, try the flan. Once you try it, you'll be back.
This was our first stop in South Beach Miami as we headed to our AirBNB off Ocean Drive. It was a recommendation from my sister's friend who li he's in Ft. Lauderdale. We sat outside with our luggage tucked under our tables. The spring break crowd wasn't too crazy yet, and the shade allowed for a not too crazy hot lunch. We ordered a calamari appetizer and three other entrees with my sister, her best friend and I shared. It ended up being a little too much for us all to eat. But everything was delicious! Everything came out relatively quickly too. We even found out as we left this morning that they squeeze their orange juice from from fresh oranges. Definitely a MUST if you're on Ocean Drive and want some Cuban food!
One of my favorite restaurants in Florida! Located in the epicenter of South Beach's exciting vibe, it's one of the oldest Cuban restaurants in the Miami area, dating back to 1962! For historians, that's the same year as the Cuban missile crisis which precipitated the Cuban migration to the USA. It's not fancy, but very authentic with a counter, tables and booths. You can go in here at virtually any time of day or night and order up a Cuban sandwich, a medianoche, ropa vieja, pan con lechon, etc. simple, authentic, unpretentious, delicious and unchanged over the years... and that's a perfect combination for me!
No frills Cuban cuisine. We are talking Cafe Bustelo and diner portions in an old school diner setting. No skimping at this classic establishment. Service is quick and efficient and our waiter took our order of Oxtail Stew with Rice and Sweet Plantains and a Cuban Espresso and Cortadito. The Cuban Espresso was sweetened and I found it slightly too sweet but the texture was very creamy and pleasant. The Cortadito was better with the milk masking the sweetness and offering a more balanced shot of espresso. The Oxtail Stew came with three pieces of Oxtail with the meat being so juicy and tender it fell off the bone. It was perfect with the rice and mildly sweet maduros. We ordered a tamal since my friend was still hungry but it was just average. There was not enough meat in the tamal. This is a great find in South Beach for classic Cuban food, but you can probably get cheaper if you head west to Little Havana. For the convenience and authenticity, Puerto Sagua gets the job done.
